R 3 Disc Wheelset Novatec announces the immediate availability of the R3 Disc Wheelset. Like the R3, the R3 Disc wheelset comes in both tubular and clincher. However, the R3 Disc sets itself apart with its new asymmetrical design. The off-center spoke placement provides for a stronger, more powerful and stiffer wheel, with more responsive braking. The asymmetrical feature allows for a balanced spoke tension, the most critical element of a strong wheel. The R3 Disc Wheelset is full carbon with toroidal 38mm deep rims and a wide profile, with fewer stainless aero spokes, 24 count in the front,28 count in the rear, and DSN nipples. 
 

“When it was time to think about adding disc brakes to our road wheelsets, we knew we had to come up with something that was light,  strong and  responsive. By playing around with the spoke balance, we came up with our asymmetrical design that embodies the lightness of a road wheel and the lateral strength and responsiveness of a mountain bike wheel.” said Henry Hinojosa, Head of US engineering at Novatec.
